Manual Lymphatic Drainage

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage has powerful cleansing, relaxing and pain relieving effects and boosts the immune system. It uses subtle, extremely light, rhythmic techniques and is used primarily to promote the optimal functioning of the lymphatic vessels that lead to the circulatory system. This facilitates the removal of metabolic wastes, excess water, toxins, bacteria, large protein molecules and foreign substances from tissue.

Western culture’s diet of highly processed foods stress the lymphatic system with excess wastes and toxins. Coupled with this and not enough fluid intake, most of us have sluggish lymphatic systems. This causes more waste products and less energy. Anyone can benefit from lymphatic drainage as part of a general detoxification program. It can improve energy, increase cellular oxygenation and nourishment as well as build immunity.

As well as using Manual Lymphatic Drainage techniques on the body, I also carry out a short Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage treatment on the feet to maximise the effectiveness of the treatment.

What medical conditions benefit from Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Lymphatic drainage is especially useful for individuals who seem to suffer regularly from common illnesses like colds and flu, Glandular Fever, M.E. (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), Headaches/Migraines, water retention, sinus problems,sprains and aches, Hayfever and other allergies, before and after surgery to remove tissue congestion and to minimise scar formation, oedema, post-cosmetic surgery (particularly liposuction), Cellulite, digestive problems and those who are suffering from excess weight, stress, anxiety and tension, Acne, Rosacea and other skin conditions, including scarring from surgery.

Please note that for some medical conditions I may need a letter of consent from your G.P. before commencing treatment. Do contact me and I can arrange to send one.

It is also recommended for people who lead a sedentary lifestyle, or those who want to reduce puffiness or swelling in areas such as legs, ankles and puffy eyes.

It has been cited as having a positive effect on:

* People with low energy;
* Before and after a long-haul flight; and
* Those with dysfunctional respiratory systems.

What to expect

You will be lying on my couch and only the area of the body being treated will be exposed. The treatment will be explained fully before it commences. The majority of clients either fall asleep or go into a highly relaxed state, due to the slow, gentle rhythmic motions involved.

A Manual Lymphatic Drainage lasts for 1 hour and costs £45.

* If you book a Manual Lymphatic Drainage treatment with me, please do let me know before your appointment date if you have a cold or a flu as your appointment will need to be re-scheduled. *
